The Movie Kiss series of paintings started back in 2004, with #1's
unmistakably cinematic qualities. The content of these works is
intentionally highly dramatic, almost campy, but with something
buzzing under the surface. Personally, I find that there's always an
unseen element that's a little creepy or disturbing - in a satisfying way
- that counters the juicy romance of the subject matter.
Most of these works also feature a graphic element, often in bare
wood, that adds a bit of subtext to what may otherwise read as a
simple film still or Hollywood promotional photo. Click below to read
